Research and technology generation are among the prime activities undertaken among several other modalities identified to address problems in agriculture, forestry and natural resources. Breakthroughs and innovations that have made modern people's lives easy, comfortable and even progressive could be attributed to the significant and magnanimous impact of searching answers through systematic inquiry and investigation.
With the innumerable benefits, the research implementing agencies of the Southern Mindanao Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (SMARRDEC) commit to the rigorous process of research. From the agency level, significant inputs and relevant research highlights are elevated to the regional level, which is now known as the "Regional Symposium on Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) Highlights." The Consortium took the initiative to include the term extension so as to give emphasis to the thrust of the consortium to reach to its stakeholders.
Now, on its 17th year, this symposium is orchestrated with the goal to answer inadequacies to facilitate effective delivery of technology to end users by the technology generators. This activity will serve as venue for the presentation, discussion and dissemination of technologies and information, which will be significant for the development of the region, if not of the country in general.
As an annual activity, which will pave way for promotion, transfer and utilization of technologies and research results, this will be participated by agency heads, technology generators, communicators, extension workers, research managers, policy makers, and farmer leaders.
This year, the consortium embraced some innovations. It decided for two more categories to be included for competition-the poster and the thesis/dissertation categories.
