35th (2022) REGIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT and EXTENSION HIGHLIGHTS (RSRDEH)

Conducted as the highlight of the 35th founding anniversary celebration of SMAARRDEC, the sysmposium puts premium in recognizing the most significant R&D results in Davao Region as well as to promote increased interaction among researchers, local government units (LGUs), and technology user/clients. The ultimate aim is for researchers from various member-institutions to strive hard in achieving quality and relevant R&D activities, and therefore, package better technologies for the country side as sustainable development.

The objectives of the RSRDEH are: (a) to gather research and development workers of the SMAARRDEC member agencies to allow them to disseminate research outputs that are relevant and value adding to the Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR) sectors in the region, (b) to recognize local researchers and extension specialists' achievements in the areas of research and development/extension work, and (c) to serve as venue to monitor and evaluate how each agency has performed in the terms of resources allocated for R&D in the AANR sector. The following are the specific objectives of the RSRDEH.

  1. To present the most significant R&D findings of consortium member-institutions in Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR);
  2. Part of M&E for determining agency performance in terms of allocated resources for R&D in the AANR;
  3. To provide an occasion for sharing knowledge and experience among researchers from consortia member-institutions to foster collaboration and integration of various multi-agency R&D undertakings
  4. To select understanding technologie/information generated in AANR for awarding purposes and nomination to national award giving bodies.
  5. To recognize achievements of researchers and development workers/extension specialists (best research and technology papers) through motivation and incentives
