This year's conduct of the Regional Symposium on Research and Development Highlights is the beginning of a joint presentation and review of research outputs on agriculture, aquatic and natural resources sectors. This is in response to the consolidation of PCARRD at the regional level.
The objectives of the RSRDH are to gather research and development workers of the SMARRDEC member agencies to allow them to disseminate research outputs that are relevant and value adding to the region's Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR) sectors and to recognize local researchers and extension specialists' achievements in the areas of research and development/extension work. The RSRDH is also one of the M&E Mechanisms which SMARRDEC regularly conducts to assess progress of members' R&D undertakings, identify gaps and recommend policy solutions. The symposium will also identify best research and technology papers that will be nominated to the National Research and Development Symposium of DOST PCAARRD and to other award-giving body like DA-BAR, among others.
This year's theme "Harmonizing Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR) Towards a Unified Regional R&D Agenda" will give insights on the regional that will be utilized/adopted by the farmers and fisherfolk in Davao Region.
Objectives:
1. To get feedback on the feasibility of technologies identified during the in-house reviews
2. To determine technologies that are ready for promotion/commercialization
3. To determine information that can be disseminated or used in policy formulation and advocacy and/or further scientific investigation
4. To recognize achievements of researchers and development workers/extension specialists (best research and technology papers, and best poster awards)
5. To provide farmers direct access to technology and information with fellow farmers (model farmers/Magsasaka Siyentista) and researchers/experts through techno clinic
